The Park's Spanish Village

Take step into a slice of Europe by visiting this quaint and charming little village. It’s right at the heart of Balboa Park. There’s so much to do here, it can seem overwhelming. Just wandering around the colorful buildings and soaking up the atmosphere is an experience in itself.

With this in mind, the Spanish Village is full of cute little artisan shops. We unfortunately we didn’t spend much time in them. However, if your into that kind of thing, be sure to check them out as their full of work from local artists. The village is more than just a pretty sight; it is a living, breathing community of art and grandeur.

Additionally, the village itself is laid out with a bright, colorful cobblestone courtyard. This is sure to grasp your attention the entire time. It was hard not to constantly look for picture-worthy moments, between the rainbow beneath our feet and the vibrant buildings, draped with bougainvillea.

If the Spanish Village is the heart of Balboa Park, then Casa del Prado is the soul. With so much history and ornate details, this place is just begs to be photographed. It is home to a variety of cultural institutions. In fact, Casa del Prado was built for the Panama-California Exposition, witnessing over a century of history. It’s also a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture. In addition, be sure to checkout the peaceful courtyard, with its central fountain and blooming flowers.
